The Alchemist Trinity Review by Jade

After a well over due visit to the Alchemist (Trinity) last week, with a slight hangover and a receipt full of cocktails my impressions on the place have not changed. For 2 years it has been my favourite bar and restaurant in Leeds.

The alchemist ran by Living Ventures is unique bar with a chemical theme that is well known for its amazing service and hand crafted cocktails. A whole page of cocktails ranging from your traditional ‘strawberry daiquiri’ to a more unique ‘screwball’, also including a huge variety of wines and some aged spirits with a twist. With the prices of the food being in comparison to your average restaurant price, the quality and presentation of the cuisine is exceptional. Drinks on the other hand are at a high price, with the average cocktail being around £7, but WELL worth the price and not so damaging if you only intend on having one or two.

With this being my favourite bar I have visited the alchemist in London, Manchester and Leeds (Greek Street). Saying this Leeds trinity continues to be the best venue for me. The set out of the actual building is quite small, but the balcony that is hidden away when you first walk in is what makes the place extra special. Whether its summer or winter it’s the perfect place to enjoy a drink with friends looking out onto the city’s streets. Modern furniture, vintage lanterns and the big fur drapes they supply for them cold winter evenings help to set the scene. (Especially for them in-famous cocktail pictures).

The service I received last night I couldn’t fault. It was a very busy evening with it being payday combined with a Saturday night. The bar staff showed some incredible fast pace cocktail skills, remaining calm under the pressure of gazing eyes reminding me of the great customer I receive every time I visit this place.

Picking up on some feedback I would give to the alchemist is the lack of room. With this being a small venue there is only so much room for a busy evening, at the bar people were stood surrounded by chairs that took up a lot of room. A guy behind me commented on this saying it would be much better to remove the bar chairs at they were not in use by any of the public, doing so would make more room for everyone.

My evening was nothing other than enjoyable and I am loving the Christmas vibe the venue is creating, with the classy decorations and the love from the staff. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
